TIRUVATHIGAI

Tiruvathigai: Veertaneswarar Temple (near Panruti) One of the Eight "Virattaanai" sacred Sivasthalams sung in praise by Naayaanmars. Lord Siva with his Nettrikkan(third eye) set aflame three lokhs called Muppurams. Sacred place where Lord Siva healed Saint Thirunavukkarasar of his acute stomach ailment. Thilagavathiyar, elder sister of Thirunavukkarasar was able to pursuade the saint to embrace Saivism from Jainism with the devine grace of Lord Siva.
